Did you know…Redingote

Redingote – Is an English term for a ‘Riding Coat’ worn by men in the 18th century, the mid-19th century redingote was a women’s long sleeved gown with a large, turn down collar. At the end of the century a redingote evolved into a tailored outdoor garment, with a princess line cut. The coat would of been worn with a large, flat collar and full skirt which was worn open to reveal the dress beneath.
