Get to know…Ralph Lauren

Lauren, Ralph 1939- Designer. Born Ralph Lipschitz in New York, USA. Lauren worked in New York at Brooks Brothers, Allied stores, and as a glove salesman while attending night school in business studies at City College. In 1967 he joined Beau Brummell Neckwear where he created the polo division to produce wide, Handmade, expensive neckties. The following year Lauren established the Polo range of men’s clothing, featuring the natural shoulder line of the IVY LEAGUE Style. In 1971 he turned his attention to womenswear and produced a collection of talored shirts. The ‘Ralph Lauren’ label was launched the following year with a complete range of garments for women in cashmere, cotton and tweed. Hacking Jackets, fair isle sweaters, pleated skirts, crew neck shirts, lace collared velvet dresses, flannel trousers and flannel skirts all featured in Lauren’s subsequent collections. In 1978 he introduced the casual sophisticated “prairie look”: denim skirts worn over layers of white cotton petticoats, fringed buckskin jackets, leather belts and full-sleeved, soft blouses. In 1980 Lauren began showing hooded capes, linen ruffled blouses, madras shirts and full skirts as part of his american frontier fashions. Lauren continue to uphold tradition with his choice of exceptional fabrics. He is successful, and is a master at producing the american classic style.

Welcome to ARTbyLola. I opened this shop a couple of years ago and am only getting around to adding some work now. I’m an Irish artist living and working in the west coast of Ireland, in Co. Galway.

I LOVE all things creative and i’ll chance my arm at anything! I try to develop my skills and knowledge in all disciplines when possible. I hold a Fine Art degree and postgraduate diploma in Art & Design education. I have also completed CE courses in Fashion design, Fashion illustration and Printmaking.

I exhibit when i can(there aren’t enough hours in the day)
I co-own and run a photography business here in Ireland www.fotissima.com along with teaching Art & Design.
