I thought it might be interesting to look at the history behind the track suit. A tracksuit is a two-piece outfit worn by athletes during the 20th century. Made of typically heavy cotton, or synthetic fibers the trousers are elasticated at the waist and ankle. The top has long sleeves and an elasticated or drawstring waist. In the 1970′s and 1980′s when exercise wear became fashionable the tracksuit became a popular casual attire for women. Tracksuits are often referenced in television shows, movies, and fashion in general. Movies and TV shows such as Glee, The Royal Tenebaums, Chariots of fire, The Sopranos, Broken Flowers, Charlie and the Choclate Factory all have characters that rock the tracksuit!
