1. When did you start making jewelry?
The first piece of precious jewellery that I made was in my final year of school when I was 16 (that’s 18 years ago now, arrrrugh!) i went on to do an art foundation, metalwork was the think that just felt right and it lead to me doing a degree in jewellery design.
2. What inspires you?
Everything, from everyday life, I live in Brighton (UK) by the sea so I guess that life by the beach plays a big part. I also love the silly phrases that we use such as “every cloud has a silver lining” and “birdbrain” these have led on to quite literal pieces of work. I also love nature and grew up in the countryside so lots of creatures pop up in my head begging to be made and I have a soft spot for a sweet tart and the occasional cupcake.
I see chic and style a close thing, confidence is a huge player, to wear what you love and be confident and to just be yourself without fearing others opinion. I guess it is to have a touch of that je ne sais quoi, quite often effortless chic style takes a lot of effort!…
4. What brought you to etsy?
My husband kept telling me to get on Etsy so I joined in 2008 but I didn’t really get into it until last year (2011). I had a baby so needed to work from home more, it wasn’t a conscious decision Etsy just grew on me, I found myself on there more and more and my love for it just grew, I think that I am addicted now!! yes, I have checked stats in the middle of the night!! I love both buying and selling on Etsy, there are some really amazingly talented makers on the site. I went to the “Hello Etsy” conference last year and I think that it actually changed my life and the way that I see things and chooses to work.
5. Where can people find you online?
Etsy is my main port of call:
I’m also on a UK site called “Not on the high street” www.notonthehighstreet.com
and you can hunt me down on flickr, twitter, tumblr and facebook!
