What is a Loafer ?

Commonly known as the “Slip-on” Shoe, loafers are low, lace-less shoes. The loafer first appeared in the mid-1930′s in Norway and made a impact as a casual shoe. As time continued the loafer was adapted into a wide variety of colors and designs often featuring tassles or metal decorations.

In 1968 Italian designer  added a metal strap across the front in the shape of a horse’s snaffle bit. Gucci Loafers became the Wall Street uniform reaching widespread popularity by the 1980′s.

Michael Jackson brought the classic loafer into fashion using them as one of his trademark looks.

Currently Loafers are going to make a big statement for fall 2012. They can be worn comfortably or fashionably by both men and women. Match them up with jeans, shorts, pants and dresses. Loafers are extremely comfortable and do not harm the feet in anyway.
