This August, Banana Republic stores will start selling Mad Men The Capsule Collection. It currently is a 65-piece line for men and women that was inspired by the sixties outfits that the cast wears on the show. Mad Men Costume designer Janie Bryant worked on the collection with the Banana Republic creative direction Simon Kneen for this collection. Check out the fabulous collection below. I am in love with this new line! It’s gorgeous!
In 1978 a store in San Fransisco was opened by Mel and Patricia Ziegler specializing in Casual safari styles and army surplus clothing. The store featured utilitarian items which had sturdy zips and snaps and were double-stitched and reinforced. The store sold army hats, sheepskin vests, shorts and other items. Banana republic inspired contemporary casual styles. The company was purchased by the Gap in the 1980’s and has been a popular shopping spot since then.
